| Abstract | A taxonomic revision of the Early Tithonian (Malm Zeta 2) German species of the genus Anaethalion (viz., angustus, angustissimus, knorri, and cf. A. subovatus) is presented. Anaethalion mayri Nybelin is placed in a new genus, EICHSTAETTIA, according to its caudal skeleton. A. angustus, angustissimus, knorri and cf. A. subovatus are Elopomorpha incertae sedis. According to the structure of the caudal skeleton, Eichstaettia mayri n. gen. remains as Elopocephala incertae sedis. An Anaethalion-like fish, from the Late Tithonian (Malm Zeta 3) of Germany, having long jaws and with cycloid scales with transverse lines in the middle field is studied. A new genus and species, Daitingichthys tischlingeri, is erected and placed in Clupeocephala incertae sedis according to the structure of its caudal skeleton. |
