| Abstract | VARASICHTHYS ariasi gen. et sp. nov. is described from the Oxfordian in the north of Chile, Domeyko Range, southeast of Antofagasta. The new genus is included in a new family within Teleostei. V. ariasi is compared with other South American and European teleosteans of the Upper Jurassic mainly and placed between pholidophorids and Leptolepis. |
